Whether you are absolutely a stunning marvel to behold or you are the girl next door who is plain yet pleasing to the eye, no one really “requires” makeup. It is also not a life requirement to wear it. At least not anywhere I know of. Jobs may have requirements - but you don’t have to work there.
People wear makeup for various reasons. Some people like to be striking with bold and unnatural colors on their eyelids/lips etc ( say Gold, Silver, Gunmetal, Violet, Blue etc ) or maybe they like their lips to be a shade of nude they don’t have naturally or brazen red. Some people want to cover up blemishes or even their skin color - which no matter how beautiful or great your skin is you still have pores, fine baby hairs and the occasional blemish. No one is immune to blemishes.
There are so few people that are naturally unappealing, if you look at someone you can find great features, so I don’t think any differently of people who are what I consider natural beauties or more average than most to be honest.
Truth be told you can emphasize any particular feature and improve upon it ( if you so desire or *enjoy* doing so ). You can make lashes more lush and dark - bringing more attention to the eyes. You can add highlighter to your cupids bow or upper cheeks giving a fantastic out of this world glow. It is not necessarily excess, especially for someone like myself who enjoys makeup and application and creating new artistic ways to express myself.
Makeup is a way of self expressing. Maybe I want to have blue lips one day? :)
